without a trace: intimate embroideries

Sewing has always been a meditative process for me, something to keep my hands busy and give me the time and space to focus on a problem. In the case of my embroidered work, Without a Trace, I focus on clothing that has been lost as an effort to preserve the memories associated with each garment. As we inhabit them, the memories and stories of our days are woven into the fabric of our clothes; the material nature of the cloth is no longer only wool or cotton or polyester, but time in physical form. Our clothes become intimate portraits of not only ourselves, but the people who inhabited them before.
